I'm a freshman now and I advise taking piano/choir first. Why? Well think of it this way. When you go to college, 97% of colleges require you to have taken a foreign language (equivalent of 3 years of the class). Also, think of it this way. In piano/choir, do you have to remember something like a language where the knowledge needed for each year's class is super dependent on what you learned the year before? No. If you are planning on getting into a relatively good college that you can be somewhat proud of being in, you want to keep that foreign language fresh in your mind. Music is very easy to remember, but you must remember so much more when taking a foreign language.
Bottom Line: Take piano/choir freshman year and take foreign languages/Spanish the remaining years of your high school career.
I hope that helps,

Our school required 2 years of a foreign language. Also I think a lot of colleges in texas want 2 years of a foreign language in high school.
I dont know the requirements for your school, but its beneficial to take a foreign language when you go to fill out your college applications and they receive your transcript.
Also playing an instrument helps too.
Do you have room for both?
If not, maybe take piano this year, so you can continue throughout high school.
but make sure to fit in a foreign language somewhere in high school.

You should take the foreign language first to get it over with, that way you can have an easier junior or senior year with interesting electives like piano/choir. People want to get it over with, which is why they take the foreign language during their first two years of highschool.=)

i might ask the counselor why. Taking foreign places language your freshman 3 hundred and sixty 5 days is a competent theory for some scholars and not for others. lots relies upon on your English grades and your profession course and targets and your learn conduct. One length does not extra wholesome all! Your counselor definitely knows your concern extra effectual than I do! for many any college you will want a minimum of two years of a foreign places language. to earnings a language superb, you'll be able to desire to start it in time-honored college. in case you propose to circulate into some technical profession, you will possibly no longer want any. In some states you like the two foreign places language or a team of technical classes to graduate from severe college. So ask your counselor why he/she reported that.

do whatever you plan to pursue or are more interested in.
- if you're not very musically inclined or are already in other music lessons, a language would be more useful in life (especially spanish, it's the most common language besides english in the US)
- if you do want to seriosuly pursue piano or want to show dedication to piano for colleged later on, then take piano
personally, i believe a language is more important in today's world - hardly anyone knows JUST english now - and my mom works at the hospital and says that many people come in who only know spanish, so she has to know some phrases...hope this helps!! =)
