Who is responsible to pay the court reporter fee in depositions?
Plaintiff or defendent? Or is it common to share the costs?
What do I do if defendent refuses to share the costs?
Can I force him to pay his side of the depositions?
Is the plaintiff also responasible to schdule the court reporter for both his and defndent depositions?

If you mean at the time of the deposition is over and you have the transcript, the person that pays the court reporter fee is the attorney who notices the deposition (meaning he orders the deposition so he can ask questions of the witness.) In the state of CA, it's not common to split costs. I'm not sure what you mean by "his side of the depositions,:" because if they are his depos, he will schedule his own court reporter, give notice of the depo, and then pay for the transcript. It's not about who is the plaintiff and who is the defendant. You only need to schedule the depos that you want/need to take. If you want your lawyer to depose the defendant in the case, then yes, your lawyer has to pay for that transcript, and, in turn, you will be probably paying him for that.

The person who requested the deposition pays. However, the deposition is a "cost" and the winner of the lawsuit gets his/her costs back. If the other party wants a copy of the deposition, they must pay for the copy--and they are not cheap.

I Canadian Courts there are a LOT of fraud by court reporters in particular in Downtown Toronto courts...

Therefore the BEST is to not have deal with these corrupt group..

HOWEVER, first you must explain why you need the pay... in may courts it is much better you argue your case by realy on LAW Only...so you don't need courtrepoter...

Then..general Plaintiff MUST pay ...

However...if any party WIN in the court, the judge MAY give all his money back by charging the other party
