I think the book by its cover is really just the appearance. But the first impression is more of the personality. So if your a middle-class guy with a sparkling personality...it works. But if its negative negative...it wont balance out you see?

I think one's appearance, especially how, when and where, do say a lot about the person. If you're the best, say sales person, on earth and you go to a sales job interview in a Marilyn Manson concert t-shirt with a chrome log chain hanging out of your nose and your tore-up jeans hanging 8" below your waste, you're probably not getting hired, unless of course, the business specializes in your attire. There is a trade-off point however, and both statements are somewhat true. If everyone tried their best at both making a good first impression and not judging too quickly, what an impact that would have on the entire world!

Good question that has had me confused for years, guess the way you handle yourself on your first meeting with someone is the first impressions count and the never judge a book by its cover is don't assume before you get to know them, its the way I see it so as not to get confused,

the way they carry urself is important but what matters the most is what IS on the inside.but some ppl think alot of appearance.it is nice 2 keep urself up because it kind of shows how well u care about urself.and how ur personal style is.i think it is a balence.like there is this guy in my class he is nice but it is hard 2 talk 2 him seriously cause he dosen't care wat he looks like and it is very distracting.so he can come in stinking and tries to hode a serious conversatin w/ u.it is just kind of hard.but i try anyways.

Expressions aren't meant to cover everything. Both can be true and mutually exclusive.
