I agree that as long as you do the best you can at the time, you have no reason for regret. Regret just keeps you looking backward, which is no way to make progress.
The best thing you can do when you feel guilty is just resolve to do better in the future. Some situations just suck--I wouldn't focus so much on finding the good in a bad situation. I think it would be better to learn what not to do and look to do good in the future. Don't get trapped looking backward--it's not good for anyone.

for me, finding the good in a bad situation does not necessarily mean overcoming regret. i can find good so that i don't feel as bad as i would've or just to look at things on a more positive perspective, but the regret would still be there, coz things would've been better 'if only' and my gladness then would be real and not just perceived and i would not need to convince myself to feel good.

Depends on the situation. Usually there is something you take away as a learning experience. Regret is to look back with a feeling of loss or sorrow or grief. In life you take the good with the bad. Look at the situation, learn from it and then go on.

If you mean CAN you, yes. But even if you find the good of a bad situation, you may not necessarily overcome regret.
If this is asked as a survey, then no, I can't. I tend to be a pessimist.

often you can, and i think for overcoming regret,,,,,, remind yourself you did the best you were capable of doing, at that time/place/situation,,,,,,,
then even if you feel you could of done better,, you can analyze why you didnt, what lead up to the bad situation,,,,,, did you have skills and didnt use them? were you just at a negative time in your life? what were the roles others involved played? you can more focus on learning from the event, rather then regretting it

It depends. Obviously if you do something that is awesomely stupid and harmful, the only lesson to learn is never do such a thing again.
But generally I try to take something away from everything. Sometimes regret can is momentary and you move on, and sometimes when one door is slammed in your face, another opens.

No, I don't think you can find a silver lining in a bad situation.
No one can forecast the outcome of a situation, therefore if it turns bad, of course you have regret.

Just remember this: there is no good or bad. Everything just is. Don't label the world and you'll be better off.

You can go one step further even and have an attitude of gratitude for everything you experience in your life for shaping who you are today and making you stronger and wiser.
