I am having a lot of trouble understanding this piece of work. I know it is a work of modernism and that there is alot of destruction and overall bad stuff going on in the poem. I need help understanding why this poem can possibly be one that has a message of salvation.

OK, not that I remember it fully from high school, but if they're hollow men, then maybe that means there's hope for us non-hollow people? Like, if you weren't totally depressed, moping around listening to emo and dressing like a reject from a Nine Inch Nails video, maybe you could do something about how bad life is?

We dabbled in this in my AP English class and our discussion ended something to the effect that the Wasteland (poem) is an ellaboration on the Wasteland concept as it appears, for instance, in the Parzival/Percival story. I'm sure Joseph Campbell and his friends have tons to say about that.
