This is my third pregnancy and know I wasnt this tired in either of my previous pregnancies.Iuse to go to bed no earlier than 11-12 and now can barely keep my eyes open past 10. Could it be that since I am older the effects are stronger now???
Will I get some more energy back once I get into my 2nd trimester???

Tiredness can be a particular problem for women in the first and last three months of pregnancy. In the early stages, you may feel unbelievably tired and sleepy, almost as if you’ve been drugged. This is caused by pregnancy hormones.

Towards the end of your pregnancy you may feel tired because of your increased size and weight, because your systems are working extra hard to support you and your baby, and because you may not be sleeping very well at night. You may also feel tired if problems like nausea or heartburn are making it difficult for you to eat well.

Tiredness is often worse for women who are overweight, or who are pregnant with more than one child, or who already have one or more children.

Feeling very tired and washed out may be a sign that you have anaemia.

The best solution is to rest as much as possible, though this is often easier said than done. It can be particularly difficult in the early weeks if you are at work and haven’t yet told your employer that you are pregnant. Resting at any stage is difficult if you have small children to look after.
Make sure that you are eating well, and don’t go too long between meals. Eat frequent small meals to keep your energy levels up

It is possible that you are anemic. Go talk to you doc and get your blood checked. That would contribute to you being so tired all the time.

Also, make sure you are taking in enough fluids. Dehydration will also make you very tired. Just drink water... no caffeinated drinks. (They are a diuretic and will just make it worse)

Another problem might be that you are having prenatal depression symptoms. Also, check with your doc on this one.

If these both check out, it may just be how your body is handling the pregnancy. I was 19 when I became pregnant with my first, and I was SOOO tired. I just slept and slept. Exercise helped a bit, and I was also diagnosed with prenatal depression. Even after taking meds, I still suffered from extreme tiredness. It was just the way my body handled the extra load. After I hit about 22 weeks, I got some energy back.

Good luck, and get your rest!

Sleep! Your body is telling you to rest, so when you can, listen. I was lucky to stay awake through dinner with my last, at least during the first trimester. My husband used to laugh at me, because some days I would come home from work, and climb right into bed. It got a lot better into the second trimester. Get some help with the other kids, and go to sleep :)

You could ask your doctor to test your blood iron. I was excessively tired in my 3rd trimester, had low iron, took an iron supplement and felt so much better.

But yes, all the other things you mentioned could also effect how tired you are, and hopefully you'll feel better in the second trimester.

Your hemoglobin and iron stores might be on the low side. I would get your blood levels checked as you might need to supplement. 2nd trimester is usually better, but won't be if it is an issue with your iron (unless you supplement). Just make sure you are eating enough iron sources/ proteins and a well balanced meal....good luck to you.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! With my 3rd child I was SO tired!! I don't know if it has anything to do with age... but mine didn't get better during the rest of the pregnancy. I just made sure to take my vitamins, eat right, rest, and do some mild walking.
Good Luck!
