Hello, I am a College Student, so obviously I m on a College Students budget. John Williams will be conducting the Boston Pops at the end of May, and I really would like to se ehim. I live in FL., so i would most likely have to get to Boston by Plane. Also, I would arrive a day or two before the concert and leave the morning after, so we're looking at 2 or 3 days in a hotel. What can i do to do this at a reasonable price, and not stay in a place where I am afraid for my life? The Concert is on May 24th.

Use travelzoo or priceline to book your ticket, but watch for fare sales as well. Spirit Airlines just had a great sale recently.

For a place to stay, see if you know any friends up in that area from school, etc. Of if you're in a fraternity, you can usually stay at your local chapter in the area.

Else, stay at a hostel. Cheap, clean, safe. Here are three you can look at. All three are downtown.

A Hostelling International Bos www.bostonhostel.org
12 Hemenway St, Boston, 02115 - (617) 536-9455

B Beantown Boston International Hostel
234 Friend St, Boston, 02114 - (617) 723-0800

C Elder Hostel Inc
11 Avenue De Lafayette, Boston, 02111 - (617) 426-7788

Subway's easy to use and Symphony Hall is just off the Green line, so it's easy to get to. Airport is right on the Blue line as well.

Have a great time!

Boston is safe, its a few around Boston that are unsafe, like Roxbury, Mattapan, --You can visit Fanueil Hall, great dining, entertainment,

watch all of the new Street --There are plenty of theaters in Boston, Boston Museum of Science is cool to visit, There are many possibilities for after dinner entertainment. New England’s largest Comedy Nightclub, The Comedy Connection, is located upstairs in Quincy Market. For sports fans, you can walk to North Station to catch Paul Pierce blazing down the court with his expert basketball skills at a Celtics game. Don’t forget to catch Manny hitting a few home runs at Fenway Park. Fenway is a short ride away on the T and a night game is always best when you’re in the bleechers.
You can also do a Duck Boat tour in Boston.

For Boston "reasonable price" and "hotel" is an oxymoron
The "economy" chains and independents will still mostly run you $100/night or more but of course this far in advance you might be able to negotiate. But pray that the week of the 24th is not a week for Boston area university graduations and commencements (in that case you might be able to find a room as close as Hartford).

Also, the 24th being midweek prevents your taking advantage of weekend deals.

Check bed and breakfasts and youth hostels

There are alot of hotels in Boston; just check the travel sites like Yahoo Travel.

You will be safe. Boston is a very safe city.

I don't know where the concert is at but if it is at the Symphony Hall... the nearest hotels are Sheraton, Marriot Copley Plaza, Copley Place Hotel, Marriot Courtyard, and the Colonnade.

Even if your hotel is not near the venue but it's in Boston, we have excellent puiblic transportation system so getting from one part of the city to another is not difficult.

Stay away from Roxbury and Mattapan and nothing will even cross your mind about being unsafe.

If you can find a friend or family member who works at any hotel, such as a waiter, cook, or cleaning person, you can get a major discount at hotels around the country/world.
