no, that's called a hollywood stereotype. movies let u think that being in a clinque is the answer to high school, but that isn't the case. if there were to be cliques like that in school, those people need to grow up. when i was in high school, everybody were friends. jocks were smart, nerds were cool, band geeks were cheerleaders, goths were artists. no one was left out.

oh my goodness, no. of course you dont. no one wants to be a follower in any "group". march to the beat of your own drummer. get to know your teachers and join some clubs you like. it makes high school so much more fun when you dont have the peer pressure of a bunch of dumbasses that dont know right from wrong half the time. besides, getting in good with your teachers helps you in more ways than you think. example: suppose you know your teachers and they know you very well....and youre a great student, involved in extra cirricular activities and you get busy with your school clubs and forget or didnt have time to do your homework. the teacher may generally not excuse stuff like that but, knowing youre a great student thats not influenced by cliques, this teacher may say, because i know you and what kind of student you are, i will let you bring this assignment in tomorrow or next week. so be who you are, be true to yourself always and sooner or later the people in the cliques will realize that beyond high school, in the real world, there are no cliques. its you against the world and nobody cares if they were the number one cheerleader or the big football hero and i dont think ive seen too many gothic people with really great jobs. just keep that in mind. and dont follow the leader, be the leader.

No, you don't have to. Usually you get grouped into one of these by the people you hang out with and what you do in school. I was actually nice towards everyone and could hang out with a differnt clique each day of the week without being hassled. But I had many interests as well so they all got to know me on an individual basis.

NO!!! you can do whatever you want. i remember when i was about to start high school (a long time ago) and i was so scared of the same thing, but you will learn (and probably be very happy about) that high school is not even close to what tv and movies make it out to be. there may be certain "cliques" of people but its usually if there is just a group of friends that are really close with one another, it doesnt necessaraly mean theyre all going to be athelets or in band. people are going to make friends with whoever they want to be friends with, no matter what they are. also, if youre really nervous about getting to know people when you get there try joining something like pep squad. i did that my freshman year and then joined the dance team my sophomore year and had the time of my life. you dont have to have any prior experience in dance or cheerleading to do it, they teach it all to you, and then you could try out for the dance or cheerleading squad if you wanted! (i dont know if that is something youre interested in, but it's nice because pep squad is something that you dont have to have experience in like band). but just take a deep breath, and i promise, everything will be ok. just be yourself and always remember that good friends are going to be the most important people in your life at the time. if you have any other questions feel free to email me...and have fun!

No and please don't just what they call "cliques" because usually when you hang out with ppl who only cares about those things, then they do not tend to know what it means to be friends with you or anyone else. The best advice that I gave my sister from my point of view in life was that your only going to have a few friends in life "real and true" friends 2 at most and everyone is not your friend so be careful who you call a friend no matter how many yours you known that person don't make them your friends. You just seen them around for years that is all and good conversations possible outings with them. They are call associates and your only cool with them from a distance otherwise you will be mad at them from what they said or did to you behind your back every 5 minutes.Trust me.

Not at all! In fact, it's better to not be in cliques! I have friends who are emo, band geeks, jocks, popular, artsy, over-achievers, speds... get a fun mix of people!

No dear,---you should go your own way, making friends from all the groups

Why would you want to limit your self to just one specialized group that is despised by all the oter groups? Be your own person.

what do you mean by "have to"? like you think it's going to affect your grade? high school is gonna be one of the weirdest times in your life, so find true friends that will accept and appreciate you for who you are instead of how you dress and what music you listen to.
