Yesterday my dog knocked my ipod into the pool! It was playing when it fell in, and I saw it turn off as it sank all the way to the bottom. I thought it would never work again, but my friend told me that she dropped hers in her bathtub and it started working as soon as all the water dried up. So I got out any excess water that I could, and I blow dried it. It didn't work at all that day, but today I blow dried it again (throught the USB and headphone jack) and the screen lit up; although I can't get anything else to happen. Is there a chance that it will work again? Or is it impossible for elctronics to recover from something like that?

I know that when my sister dropped her cell phone in the lake, she took it apart and blow dried it. It did work again (perfectly)- so it's not entirely farfetched ro think that drying it out will work; however I cannot take my ipod apart. It may never be able to completely dry out.

No, sorry hun but electronics tend to die when they fall in water like my cell phone, it'll turn on maybe and it'll seem like its alive... after a while it'll turn off again my best bet is to send it back to apple if you have a warentee and lie about what happened. electronics are tricky and especially small ones are hard to fix. It'll seem like it works again... don't get too excited Good luck with the whole problem though, since yours fell in a pool i doubt it'll work for long again..

Try it with a different set of earphones or through external speakers. Maybe the the water ruines the speakers but not the device. It may take a week before it completely dries out. How much chlorine got in there might determine if it'll ever work again also.

Well, unfortunately, probably not. The difference in your friends' experience and yours, is that she only dropped it in the bathtub, meaning she was able to get it out quickly. However, in your case, it fell into probably the shallow end of a 3 ft. swimming pool, meaning it wasn't gotten out in time. Meaning, it is probably ruined.
But, on the bright side, I dropped my cell phone in a glass of milk (long story lol) and it's still alive ; ) ...but then again, it's the same ordeal as your friends', quick recovery.
Best of luck.

well i think your friend's worked because she got it out immediately and a bathtub isn't like a pool. in a pool there are chemicals which may affect the ipod and how it works. i think maybe if it is still under warranty go to the apple store and try and get them to replace it. (don't mention dropping it in the pool). if it doesn't work or your warranty is up, i think you might have to get a new one. sorry and good luck. hope everything works out and who knows maybe it still works. hope it does for you anyway.

it can work again! i stupidly left my cell phone in my pocket when going on a canoe and of course we flipped over. after getting my phone off the river floor, i just let it dry. it had a little condensation on the inside, but it did work fine after a few days. you might have to replace the battery though. after it dried, the it still wouldn't work, so i put in another one and it powered up just fine. good luck!

you might want to first intially blow dry it some and then stick it in a bag of uncooked rice. the rice will suck up the moisture. It should work again with a little luck. Hopefully that does the trick

Hey, I am sorry but you may have to buy a new IPOD.
If you have cell phone service, you will notice that under their insurance plans, they will cover anything except water damage. This is because the damage caused by water is irreversible. Sorry hun!

Try and take it apart, you can find instructions for that online, then let it dry out for a few days. It worked with my razor phone. not sure if it will work here but def worth a try!
