huge difference. if you want to protect your guitar go with a hardshell .a softshell is just cheap and ive actually snapped a neck of one of my fave one day by slipping on ice and falling backwards on it. it wouldnt have happened with a hardshell which i have for everyone of my 12 guitars
i see you asked about a classical guitar, if thats what you have get a hardshell you dont want to risk breaking it and classical guitars tend to be the most sensitive to damage!

It may cost a little more, but a hard shell case will give more protection to your guitar. You would be kicking yourself if you used the soft case and ended up getting your guitar damaged or ruined. If you never intend to leave the house with your guitar, then maybe a soft case would be ok. I wouldn't chance it though....get the hard shell.

A "Soft shell" is just that ,,,,,,,,,all it is , Is a cloth bag that you put your guitar into.
A Hard shell case has a wooden or plastic/Fiberglass Structure that is covered on the outside with a leather or cloth and on the inside it is covered with a padded cloth to help protect and cushion the guitar from any dents or dings or scratches.
If you bang a soft case you just dented the guitar ........bang a hard case and you just banged a hard case !

Soft shell is not a solid case like the hard shell...
Ok... If you have a soft shell case you can fold it like cloth, but it's not as lenient as cloth.
Hard shells are more protective because it is solid and hard.
