I live in a medium sized city in a middle class neighborhood. About three months ago, someone started renting the house next door. Every week, I see AT LEAST a dozen different cars parked in front of the house with different people getting out of them.
Oddly enough, the cars that first started showing up were OK cars but now all the cars are getting nicer and nicer and today there was an new H3 parked outside!
There are at least four cars at the house for most of the day but the family that moved in consists of a mother, father, and 6yr old son from out of state.
There are never any loud parties or disturbances coming from the house (which makes me think something is up).
Why on EARTH are there so many people at this house?
My first thought was that it is drug related but would there be any other reason for this odd behavior?

I don't want to knock on their door and say "Hey why are there so many cars at your house? Are you dealing drugs?"

I'm mostly concerned for our general safety and also don't want to have any problems in the future. I also don't want to start a feud with the new neighbors. How can I be nosey without being noticed so I can get to the bottom of this. I'm really curious!!!

You may just happen to have popular neighbors. What do they do for a living? Do either of them happen to be writers, musicians, artists, etc? I am a freelance writer, and am married with a young child. My wife works, but I get to earn my living working from home.

I still have many friends that I invite over to my house, and throughout just about every day of the week. I'm home all the time, but most of my friends are not. They visit when they have the time, and those times are just about as random as they get.

...but, I'm not selling them drugs.

On the flip side, a high school buddy of mine (who is now a doctor) came over to my house just last week. He was driving a Lexus SUV with huge chrome plated wheels on it, and a stereo system that would make you deaf just from standing next to it. $60,000 automobile, chrome rims, stereo...must be a drug dealer, right?

Wrong!

This man would be performing open-heart surgery on you if you required it and lived in the city I live in.

Case in point:

Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't judge a neighbor by critiquing the people who visit them. Be happy that they're not partying all day-every day and that you're not having to constantly call the cops on them! That's a good thing, remember?

Key thing here, "at least four cars at the house for most of the day", now they might be doing drugs or whatever else in that house, but when you have drug deals going on, the cars and the folks driving them usually don't stick around for very long. You get your sh*t and leave, otherwise you gotta share.

Here are some possible reasons: Tupperware party's, P.W.N.C meetings (people with nice cars), a group of friends take turns going to other friends places and do a good cleaning, crack house, Friends meeting at different homes to watch and discuss what's going on on American Idol, ect, ect...
