If the rice is not cooked then after the bird eats the rice and mixes with water in there stomach the rice will swell up. And so says if they eat too much they will explode and die. If its cooked than its okay.

When birds eat rice it goes threw their body and into their intestines. once it gets their it explodes the birds intestines and kills the bird
