The Oscars are for movies that have been released (even on a small scale) theatrically (i.e. plays in a movie theatre). The Emmys are for TV, which includes TV shows--sitcoms, dramas, and soaps, for instance--as well as made-for-TV movies. Hope this clarifies!

An Emmy is for Television work and an Oscar is for theatrical movies. A made for television movie would get an Emmy and not an Oscar.

emmys are only for tv but the oscars have to do with movies and anything relating to movies (like art-direction, music in movies, etc.)
personally if you like both tv and movies i would watch the golden globes....that is why the globes are my favorite award show. two of my favorite things combined.
