My daughter is turning 16 next week. No, I am not planning on bringing any celebrity in for the party. And I am a Colt fan.
Manning has done a lot of charity work in the past. Hopefully he receives the check, smiles for some photos and donates the ridiculous amount to a good cause.

Yeah how low can you go. I mean fine if he charges appearence fees, all players do, in most cases. I don't think charging that much to show up for a birthday party is right. I'm sure some will excuse it but come on. He didn't have to take that much. He isn't hurting for money, at least not by what the Colts pay him.

Most people don't realize that Manning, like most celebrities, has an agent that sets these things up.
The agent negociates when, where and price, and Payton gets a schedule from him where and when he is supposed to be.
I wouldn't be surprised if Peyton doesn't even know how much he was paid to go to the party, just that it was on his schedule provided by his agent.
But, even if he does know what he is getting paid, look at it this way.
If someone said that they were willing to pay you $200,000 to make an appearance at a birthday party, would you go?
In Manning's world there is a huge demand for him to do commercials and do public appearances.
There is a never ending trail of negociations, appearances, lawyers, agents....etc.
So, when they say "tomorrow you are scheduled to appear at this birthday party" he just shows up like he is supposed to.
And besides, if someone can afford the magnatude of party that just his appearance costs $200,000, think of what they spent on the ENTIRE party.
I'm guessing in the $500,000 range, just for a birthday party.
It's obvious that these people are not hurting for money and that whoever's birthday it was is spoiled rotten.
It's not like Manning was charging some poor and destitute person some outragous amount of money to show up.
How many people you know throw birthday parties that cost the amounts of money we are talking about here?
Instead of thinking bad of Manning for receiving $200,000 for showing up at this party, maybe someone should look at what kind of person is willing (and wanting) to pay that much just to have him show up.

I think I'd buy my kid a skybox at the stadium for the next 5 years over seeing Manning for a day...

its up to him. i mean 200k really isn't much to him, considering he has a 99.0 million dollar contract. and if someone is willing to pay him that much to go to a sweek 16, and he says yea, then what is wrong with that?
