If you could have one or the other, who would you rather have on your team, Daisuke Matsuzaka or Jonathan Papelbon? Assume that Papelbon will be a starter the whole season. BTW, this is for a Yahoo! league.

Papelbon for sure. Not only is he a proven major leaguer, but he is an early darkhorse, if he can stay healthy for the Cy Young. If this an all or nothing league, like you will not have many reserves to plug in if he gets hurt, you may want Dice, though...he has ridiculous stamina and will not go down easy, vs. Papelbon who actually dislocated his shoulder at the end of the season last year.

I'd go with Dice-K, but they have vastly different values. Matsuzaka is generally a top 10 round pick, whereas Papelbon is being drafted around the 15th round.
If you think Papelbon is going to have a comparable season, wait 5 rounds to take him.

I'd take Matsuzaka over Papelbon as a starter. If Papelbon was still closing, I'd take him but I don't think his success will transfer over to being an ace starter.

i would get Daisuke Matsuzaka because the hitters are going to have lots of trouble hitting his curve ball and because of that he is going to get lots of K's and he will be winning lot more games then Papelbon

Matsuzaka - J-Paps threw 68 innings and his arm was tired, that scares me putting him in a position where I need 200 innings from a starter.

I would take Matsusaka, let him own people for the first couple months, as most japaneese pitchers do when they go to the MLB, and then deal him for a top tier starter.
