What kind of dancing, do they do in the movie Dirty Dancing, like , I know it's not jazz, or tap, or hip hop, so what would you call it?

The movie revolves around the mambo, and the Swayze character is an Arthur Murray ballroom instructor. Mambo is one of the nine major dances in American-style ballroom. The scene with the working kids partying shows simple freestyle, and in keeping with the times it showed some twist influence, though they weren't really doing the twist. Those of us who disliked hustle were still doing disco freestyle like that fifteen years later. There's a little American-style rumba in one scene, and at the end there's a smidgen of cha cha and a mention but no film of pachanga.

It's quite heavily based on salsa and flamenco. I'd probably class it as freestyle salsa.
