He is an idiot. I'm a lesbian and I was so close to killing him when he said it. Can I get him suspended for making that coment? He said " I'd rape a lesbian chick, like you, to turn her straight." What can I do to him?

You can definitely report him to the conselors and the principal. He is creating a hostile environment and is also sexually harrassing you.

I would reccomend telling the school authorities simply because any guy that would say that needs some education on the topic of rape. I doubt he was serious, but I would make sure the school counselor hears about it, not for punishment, but to correct the serious misinformation obviously floating around your school. Good luck, and I'd also like to say that it's very refreshing to read about a straight young person in high school who is such an ally. Things really are getting better from my school days!

Don't you do anything to him. I think you're the one that should be the bigger person here and not take it out on him. I definately think you should report it to someone like the teacher/principal.

Not to be a dobber but because - even if he says he was joking - a comment like that should not be made. Being raped is not a joke nor is sexuality. I realise how much you might want to hurt him but make sure if you do snap that you have some backing - such as reporting this incident.

If you're in the United States, which I'm assuming you are, he technically just committed assault. It only takes a threat of violence to constitute as assault, and I'd say that was a threat. I would take any witnesses to the school administrators with you and report him there, and suggest it get reported to the proper authorities. Assault is NEVER ok, neither is rape or a threat of, and that sounds like a threat to me. I am not sure if it would be considered just Assault or Sexual Assault, regardless it's a misdemeanor crime, regardless of his age.

You can get him expelled for sexual harrassment but it might be hard if there were no witnesses present when he threatened you and you have to take into account where your school stands on the rights and protection of LGBT students because your school might turn a blind eye to the harrassment and down play it as if it weren't a big deal because it is. It might be harder for your voice to get heard if your school isn't supportive of its LGBT students but it doesn't mean you can give up, just know where your teachers, staff, principal, the district and your friends stand on the issue.

He's probably right.

However, the other side of the story is that if a man rapes a straight man he can be turned 'gay'.

The truth is most people are bisexual in nature, its our society that forces us to be heterosexual. Heterosexuality is a choice and most men (and women) who are heterosexual have conscio0usly chosen to hide or suppress their same-sex feelings and to exaggerate their opposite sex feelings.

However, those who have taken the lesbian or gay identity are not likely to be making a choice because there is no social benefits for doing that.

He is an idiot, I agree. You'll find there's lots of idiots in the world. They're usually not worth thinking about.

Maybe you can get him in trouble for his casual comments about the crime of rape. But it may be a big mess for you, too, so it may not be worthwhile for your sake.

I'm glad you didn't kill him, and I'm glad you know you're superior to him. Take some comfort from that.

Talk to the principal. That is completely out of line, not to mention stupid and ignorant. What he said could be interpreted as a threat by some people, so it's entirely possible that he will get suspended.

Lie a little. Tell the principal that he said that he would rape you in order to turn you straight and that you felt threatened and so on. If you misunderstood you misunderstood oops Place the burden of proof on him
goood luck

He is an idiot for sure! I don't know if he could be suspended for the comment, but he should certainly be reported for it. It does sound suspiciously like a threat. Although he might just be an ignorant, insensitive, inconsiderate, rude, bigoted moron!

Here is a life lesson...

Ignore him. Easier said than done, right? Don't let other people's ignorance control your life. In the long run you will end up a better person if you are able to understand and accept that there are A LOT of stupid people out there saying A LOT of stupid things (Christians, haha!)

A good way to vent your anger at other people's ignorance is to read about Dr. Martin Luther King, or Mahatma Gandhi, it's great inspiration. Learn tolerance, teach it where you can.
