Okay I have done this a few times before But I have bought a new Hard Drive(one I care about this time) and would like to make sure i dont screw up.

I have 3 Hard drives.
I only have enough cables for 2
I have 2 With stuff On them(one segate and another I forgot brand)
1 Brand New(WD 160g)
I need to copy One of the ones I have stuff on(the one I have Windows on) and copy it onto my new oneand eventually replace it so long story short....

.....HDDa+HDDb in computer
I think i need to put
HDDc+HDDb and copy HDDb onto HDDc
and eventually have
HDDa+HDDc in computer

And I don't think I can use windows to copy because I will end up getting a (the file is being used by another person or progam) error

So I need a file or program or something i can load off of a cd of floppy

Go to the link and pick your drive type, and get Data Lifeguard Tools. You want the one that goes onto a floppy so you can boot off of it, The first thing you want to do is hook up the new WD drive to the secondary cable, and copy the partition from your primary drive, to the WD drive. After that, unhook your old drive, move the WD drive to the primary cable, then you can either copy the stuff from the next drive to your new one, or with data lifeguard tools you can create an extra partition on your primary "new WD drive" and move all the info onto there with data lifeguard tools.....

If you have another pc, you can email me your instant messenger name and I can help you out.....click on my picture, then you will see a link for my email address.....this is no small task if youve never done this......

You can use Symantic Ghost or any other utility that copies everything over. You can try checking on the CDs that came with your hard drive. I remember I bought a Maxtor and it came with a clone utility. If that drive is not the main drive where the OS is on, you can safely do a select-all and copy everything over. Make sure to quit all your programs to make sure there's nor files in use.

You need some type of cloning software, like Acronis. With it, you can make an exact duplicate of your Windows drive onto your new blank drive. Then remove your old Windows drive, install your new drive as C: (primary master), and the other drive as your second drive.
