I bought a laptop and it said that I had to activate vista or else it won't work so when I did, it said that it was unvalid and not genuine but it is. I have typed it over and over and nothing happened and it is locked so, for anyone who is an expert with this kind of problem or has already happen to, I would be grateful if you help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you buy it from a store? Your scenario sounds as if you bought the laptop second hand and unfortunately received one that had a beta version of Vista on it. If this is true, the means that your Vista is expired and you need to purchase a Windows Vista Key. The other possibility is that someone else (i.e.the person you bought it from) used that key on another computer.

If you bought the laptop from a store/ordered from a manufacturer, notify them immediately. they should either replace your computer, or send you a new Vista installation disk.
However, if you have gotten Vista from a friend or off the web, good luck trying to convince them you didn't know it wasn't genuine.

Take it back to the store, or call Microsoft. That is not normal.
