I am starting track basically in a week and I want to know how to be excellent so that my coaches will pick me for Nationals. This is my first time doing track...how do I get good at it???

well im in track and all i can say is run...i mean u have to run a lot and i dont think u can do it in a week. :(
but if u wanted to get fast then u should ahve run like at least a month before. probablly the best thing u can do in a week is run, pick out some light shoes, and remember to take bigger lunges while running long distance and to remember that being tired is all in ur head....o and don't start out at a maximum sprint on long distances

Dont eat greasy foods or else you might throw up during practice and that usually does not make the coach happy

Be faster than everybody else. Some rare individuals are genetic naturals, maybe you are. What event(s) will you be competing in?

do what your coach says
run fast
its that simple

run on the treadmill, daily. it will earn you the ability and endurance that you need to conquer track...good luck.
