I'm guessing that they would eat what they grew and raised. Depending on the location, they might use wild onions and/or wild spices. Pigs, birds (turkeys and chickens) and beef are not hard to raise, however, I think they might need the cow for field work and milk. I would think if they had a big family to feed, they would butcher a pig and just roast it in the ground. That would be the easiest way.
