Who would you pick, and who do you think will win?
I would pick Jerry Sloan, but I don't think he will win. Nobody ever gives him his just respect.
What do you think?

Jerry Sloan, and Avery Johnson have to be the top two candidates. Either one is very deserving of the award. I think it would be nice to see Sloan win, just because he's one of the winningest coaches of all-time, and he' s come so close in the past, but never won the award. My argument against Sam Mitchell winning it, even though the Raptors are having a decent season, is that they are in the weakest divison in the NBA. Also, the Eastern Conference is just weak in general. Does anyone really think the Raptors would have the same record they do now, if they played in the Western Conference?

yeah Sloan will definitely getting some recognition for what he has done with a team that is virtually the same as last years roster (only main difference would be the healthy play of Boozer, but that offsets with the poor play from Kirilenko)

he will definitely get some nods, but i also think Avery Johnson for the Mavs will make people stand up and pay attentilon. if the Mavs get around 65 or so wins, id say he would get the award.

im sure many will also throw their hat in to Isiah Thomas for his efforts transforming the Knicks

record Rivers. The Celtics in simple terms matched the main suitable single season turn around in NBA historic previous (Tim Duncan's Spurs went from 20-sixty two to fifty six-26). The Celtics can injury the record with 7 video games left to play at 60-15. how are you able to no longer be coach of the 365 days after attaining a feat like that???

I would also give it to Jerry Sloan for the big turnaround he made on the team from last season. If Sloan doesn't win it you have to give it to Avery Johnson of the Mavericks again. The teams record speaks for itself.

I think that Phil Jackson deserves the honor of NBA coach of the year. Unlike teams like Dallas and Phoenix, the Lakers do not have very much talent on their team besides Kobe Bryant. You must be wondering, what about Lamar Odom? Well, he has been injured for a chunk of the season and has just gone out again and may be out the rest of the season. I think this last stretch of the season for the Lakers without low-post expert Lamar Odom will prove whether Phil Jackson is as good as his record shows, and I am completely sure that he will do great!

Sam Mitchell has turned around a raptors team who was 27-55 last year to 4th place in their conference and 1st in the atlantic. He has a great team thanks to the general manager Bryan Colangelo who is terrific for bringing in Andrea Bargnani(contender for rookie of the year), Anthony Parker (possible future 6th man of the year), T.J Ford (athletic point guard, quick, improved jump shot), Jorge Garbajosa (euro m.v.p), kris humphries who came out as something for nothing (Rafael Araujo) and last but not least Rasho Nesterovic I guy who can get you decent minutes by rebounding the ball and he can shoot that 16-17 footer. Sam Mitchell has the players that he needs and may also be a contender for the championships not this year but probly next few years or so

I don't think he's going to win, but I suggest that the coach of the Toronto Raptors should get the coach of the year honors, because the Raptors don't have much talent, but they are one of the best teams in the east and even division leaders at that!!!
