I also say Van Halen. The song Eruption is a guitar solo. If you have ever heard Van Halens version of You Really Got Me on the radio, chances are you have heard Eruption.
Ozzy is also known for having great guitar solos in his songs.

Definitely Guns n Roses. It's hard to find anyone to compare to Slash. Just take the opening to Paradise City - absolutely flawless.
