Terms of endearment is a great topic in a relationship. Ours is rather an unconventional relationship-lesbian couple of 33 years.
The one that we always use is "honey bucket" which I think is a take-off on some film we saw years ago but neither of us can remember. The usual terms, "dearest, sweetie" are never used.
Most of our terms are made up at the spur of the moment-dependent on the situation. Some of them seem abusive and perhaps politically incorrect but are understood in our relationship.
"Cholo", the guacamole is ready". "Gardenia, can you get the mower started? "Fart-face, did the UPS man use our toilet or what?"
When it comes to love and serious situations a diminutive of the first name is used. If she calls me Rachie, I know we will talk for hours in one way or another.
There are no names that I can't stand other than the c word that rhymes with a squeeze play in baseball or the t word that rhymes with what weightlifters do. These are off limits and never said.

I used "stud" for my hubby, can't stand "baby" and "hun" when women use it in reference to other women. EH! So over-used!!
