Not sure exactly what you’re asking, but in general, I try to be very conscience of my actions, which requires thinking before acting.

When I’m really at a loss, (confused, troubled, unsure…), I begin writing. I write as much detail as possible about every aspect I know about the issue, (preceding, present, potential results of various directions… emotions, observations…).

I’ve been much more successful sorting things out, finding patterns, other perspectives… when reviewed objectively on paper, (or electronic), than verbally or mentally.

I cry. Sometimes it's a relief to just get it out when I'm overwhelmed & then I can start to think clearly afterward & realize I'll be ok. I think about the problem & try to come up with a solution. I ask for advice from friends or family. Usually my sister is the best one to talk to, she's sympathetic, non-judgmental, kind & caring. She's the voice of reason & helps to calm me down when I feel like I'm spinning out of control. I also have a close friend who was very supportive when I suffered a loss recently. I couldn't have gotten through it without her. My boyfriend is helpful as well, though he often takes a "tough love" approach and doesn't sympathize so much as he tries to toughen me up to solve the problem on my own (which isn't always welcome advice when what I want is a shoulder to cry on! But I'm beginning to understand his common sense perspective...)

The best thing to do is to talk to someone. Whatever the problem is, you are not alone. If you can't find an answer yourself, it can't hurt to ask someone you trust.

Gather more information. Define your options. Eliminate what is irrelevant from your considerations. Talk to people you trust about your circumstances. Sometimes, when one path seems superior to others, but just too distant to satisfy your desire for change, doing any little thing to get the ball rolling can provide more relief than you might think, while at the same time, it can go some way toward bringing up step 2, which in turn brings up step 3, and so forth.

When in doubt, I try to leave it out. In other words, if I do not emphatically know what to do in a given situation, I try to zip my lips and not say or do anything.

In so far as trying to make things different, I don't always do this because it's not my goal necessarily to make a certain situation or circumstance different. If it is called for and I can do something positive to enhance a given situation or dilemma, than I go ahead and give it my best shot with the best I have to offer.

It depends on the situation. Sometimes you gotta go with the gut, a quick judgment call. Other times I might ask a key key people, not because their answer is definitive but because their answers can help me to reach the solution I'm looking for. And sometimes, if time and circumstances permit, I might have to step back and just let the solution surface.

Ultimately you gotta be able to put yourself out there and make a decision. Then don't look back, but learn from your mistakes and try not to make any doozies.

what i do to make things different is to simply just do something different. it'll set a totally different pace for you mentally, physically, and spiritually.

spontaneity works best for me. for example if I'm sitting at home doing nothing I'll just get up and sweep the backyard or something. or I'll yell out a primitive sound like i had tourette syndrome just to make myself crack up. ANYTHING to change the rhythm of my boredom. well i used to be bored, but now I'm never bored. it takes practice to be easily amused.

BUT....

if something is troubling you, take a step back from whatever it is that's troubling you and observe from who or what is disturbing yous perspective, and then yours. who? what? where ? when ? and why? then when you have finally worked out a reason for it, come up with a plan of attack.

your answers won't come quickly, and patience will probably be needed, but trust in yourself that the answer will be the best possible answer. take the time and remember that frustration won't help your decision making any better. a clear mind is a right mind.

First thing i ask myself "why don't i know what to do in this particular aspect of life?" I come up with an answer like," i don't have any correct data about this thing or event". Then, i ask myself "what data do i need to be able to be cause over this problem?".

I try to get this data that i need and apply it in my life. If it doesn't work, i get another data that will eventually work. I apply it again, and usually it does work!

The key element in my experience is to know that i will know how to do anything. Positive thinking and the right attitude
while you're doing it makes the whole exercise successful!

When you don't know what to do, well, do "nothing" is akin to doing something - sometimes better than acting impulsively.
But much as you would like to know what to do, stewing over it sometimes does help you know the best course of action.... or you could go with the flow,,, it all depends on what the situation is really. I wish I am not in this predicament!

If I just don't know what to do to help someone...I call around to whatever agency I can find that will listen...
I will get in touch with a local church for assistance in helping someone...or
I will drive them where they need to go to get help....
Sometimes it is those little things that bring bigger changes in a needy persons' life....I have been helped by many in the past so I am just 'paying it forward'...
