yes it definitely was...for all the stupid haters out there who think he was a ball hog, here's what happened
-he was facilitating the offense early on and guys were missing shots so kobe took control and started scoring
- he sat down in the bench in the second quarter for 6 minutes!!!!! lakers got into a deeper hole without him and he somehow managed to put up around 30 points on the board by halftime
-The start of the third quarter was horrendous...lakers fell behind as much as 22 and they needed a spark and kobe start to bring them back himself WHEN OTHERS WERE CLEARLY MISSING OPEN LOOKS HE SET UP DAMNIT!!!!!
- He was going through 3 or 4 defenders and scored at will and was very aggressive and got to the free throw line about 24 times (which is what kobe wannabe wade gets on an average night...)
IT IS THE SINGLE GREATEST SHOOTING PERFORMANCE EVER TELEVISED...NO ONE WILL EVER COME CLOSE!!!

Your question of "shooting" is kinda troubling. I believe that Kobe had the greatest "scoring" performance ever televised in the history of the NBA. i have read A LOT about well look at Jordan and his 63. You're 18 points too short. As far as a shooting performance Ray Allen has had some great shooting stretches and so has Michael Redd. I also want to address the IDIOT who is talking about Gilbert Arenas being better than Kobe?? Are you kidding me?? Arenas is SO overrated that he promises 50 Pt's and only gets 9. You called Kobe selfish, but i have never EVER heard Kobe promise to drop 50Pt's on any given team. Kobe a ball hog?? Gilbert's promises alone are one of the most selfish acts of the season so spare me/ us your jargon and myopic views of your hero Gilbert.

There is question to me that Kobe Bryant's performance against the Toronto Raptors was spectacular, but the best performance ever? Yes, it was. Kobe Bryant literally took over the game to help his team win--how's that for you Kobe haters? Lebron and D-wade can't score 81, Lebron has problems taking over the game and D-wade looks to pass before to shoot. Even 81 points is too much for Air Jordan.

Here's something that hasn't been mentioned, but was thrown around a lot around the time it happened. Go out to the nearest basketball court by yourself, and, in 42 minutes (roughly the amount he played), see if you can score 81 points. Even if you do, remember that Kobe was going against 5 NBA players with virtually no help from his team, and be amazed. I have to say yes.

It was one of the greatest performances in the nba of all time but every body has forgot that wilt chamberlin had scored 100 points in one game in march of 1962 so it is not the greatest shooting basketball performance ever televised

I hate Kobe Bryant, but I have to admit, he is a hell of a talented player. I'd say that his 81 was definitely the greatest scoring performance ever televised. It was also one of the worst defensive performances ever televised.

no it wasn't the greatest shooting performance of all time ever televised it was wilt chamberlains 100 point performance. They didn't have 3 point lines back then and he managed to get 100 points which is really crazy.

Kobe's greatest televised performances have been those slaps of Manu and Marko. I guess you could call them his Greatest Hits lol.
