I bellydance at EVERY party i go to!
But all of a sudden, i've had back pains. I need to go to the doctor. This weekend is my cousin's sweet 16, its gonna be HUGE and she wants me to bellydance. I promised her, but with all the pain i don't think i make it.
What can i do?

Injuries do happen to dancers sometimes. They also happen to non-dancers, BTW. So you need to go to a doctor and you will have to tell your cousin that unfortunatelly you are injured and cannot perform. It is unclear whether you hurt you back with dancing or with something entirely unrelated, but if it hurts to dance as a result of it then don't do it for now. Don't dance until you recover, or else you can make your injury much worse.

If you are suddenly experiencing back pain, try pulling your tailbone down towards the floor, straightening your lower back. Chances are you've started arching your lower back, which creates tension in the spine and is very bad for your back.

You can also strengthen and limber your spine before going dancing by getting on your hands and knees on the floor. First pull your back toward the ceiling, then push slowly down toward the floor, and repeat, alternating, several times. Doing this every day will help protect your back from injury.

Well go to the doctors, maybe it isn't the belly dancing that is causing the pain, maybe the way you sleep? It could be a billion different things. The doctor could give you some medication and you could dance at the party. But, if it still hurts don't belly dance because it will get worse and something REALLY bad could happen to you, don't push yourself TOO much but you could still belly dance if you feel up to it.

I do a lot of dancing and my lower back use to be in sooooo much pain until I went to the chiropractor. Chances are you back has just been thrown out of place. (Dancing isn't the most natural thing to do.) If you can't see a chiropractor and it's your lower back, lay flat on your back on the floor with you feet and calves up on a chair, so your body makes sort of a sideways Z, if that makes any sense, and your lower back is pressed into the floor. It really helps.

that's unusual.
i bellydance a lot i'm guessing not as much as you though. DO STRETCHES. try doing the back bend and abdominal stretches as much through the day as possible.
if it's still hurting alittle, take the pain.
it's her sweet 16!! it only comes once.
