I was told not to do anything I wouldn't have done while I was pregnant.

It shouldn't be too big an issue, just make sure you swallow as little as possible. If you are having your teeth whitened with anything but hydrogen peroxide, wait. More chemicals get into breastmilk than pass through the placenta in pregnancy, so if it would be an issue when pregnant, its an issue when breastfeeding.

Yes, teeth whitening is based on peroxide which breaks down into simple water and hydrogen (which are inert).

Don't swallow a bunch of it because it will give you a stomach ache. There isn't anything in it that can travel into your breast milk to do any harm to a baby.

In the end there aren't enough studies to give a definate answer.

The real question is is it worth potentially harming your baby? Are whiter teeth really worth potentially harming your baby because you couldn't wait a few extra months?

if you whiten your teeth? i wouldnt see why not. Is it just me or are many guys turned on by breastfeeding? Maybe it's just the breast part, not the feeding part. I think it's just the act of sucking on a tit, makes us guys wanna get in on the action. If I had wife and we had a baby, I would ask to watch, not in a perverted way. Can I watch you?

No I am sure your baby will be well impressed with you taking time off to look good, not that it will be looking at your teeth.
