most time a back fire is firing threw a open valve but sit can be because you are putting to much gas down the intake and it firing because of the heat off the valves so it can be Meany thing that is causing your problem you will have to put more info with your question to get a more directed answer. good luck

Sounds like a stretched timing chain. The camshaft timing is off, causing the backfire. Not that unusual in high mileage engines.

Get new spark plugs, check your timing and if it is coming through your carb then you might have a burnt valve or a stuck valve.

Check the timing and if it is correct check the compression for a sticking valve.

There's no way the timing can be off enough for that. It's burnt intake valves.

Check you spark plugs. See if their burning clean or if they have oil on them.
