My mom has an e monster (e machine) that's about 6-7 years old. The monitor just up and decided not to work. It's not getting power. Tried in other plug, still won't work. No lights, no blinking, the speakers plug into the monitor for a power source and nothing from them either. I guess I just want confirmation from someone who has better tech. knowledge that the damn thing is dead, unless there is some sort of magical ceremony that I can perform.

Nobody can say for sure...it could be your video card. Try connecting another monitor...take it to a store pretend you want to test a monitor before you buy one. If a different monitor works...then, yes your old monitor is fried. If two or more other monitor's don't work....it's most likely your video card.

You might just want to get a new computer all together.

You can try holy water...as you said e monster is about right. And 6-7 years is pretty good for a life of a monitor. Tell her to buy a new friggin computer.

If you've tried everything and it still doesn't work...? Yep. Your monitor's toast!

Time to get a new one.

The way you can tell if it's fried is:

You're computer's on, but there's nothing there showing on the screen.

Your monitor is exuding a horrible "burnt ozone" smell from the back. (Like mine did last year: It went poof! all of a sudden, and I heard this electronic pop! in the back--followed by what smelled like burnt ozone or dog hair.)

I think that the monitor is off. As a last attempt take some clues from http://fixit.in/monitor.html and try to fix the problem.
