I posted a question asking about Genesis VS Pink Floyd VS Rush VS Led Zeppelin.
Everyone pretty much answered what they liked and why.
HOWEVER, there were REALLY STRONG EMOTIONS about Rush. Some people just ADORED them and others HATED them.
What do you think about Rush and could you please give specifics as to why?

I don't love them because ALL MY LOVING goes to the world's best band, THE BEATLES!!! I don't hate them either because my hatred goes to war, sexism, racism, prejudice, and discrimination. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!

Rush are my favorite band. I love they're music because it's unique and intricate and can't be mistaken for anything else. They have achieved this really "big" sound, despite there only being three of them. Their style really evolved over the years, and while some phases were disappointing (Grace Under Pressure) I've really enjoyed the different sounds they've achieved. From the hard rock they started out with, to the art rock of the late '70s and early '80s, even some of the synth-heavy albums of the mid-late '80s. I also enjoy the lyrics because I dig pretentious lyrics. :)
Also because I'm a nerd, and Rush are the ultimate nerd band.
I can't wait until they go on tour this summer!

I hated them for years and years and years. Then one day, for some reason i had to hear them. So I went out and bought "Spirit of the Radio", that one disc best of Rush fans HATE. And I wound up liking them.
The music's good. Alex can come up with some great crunch riffs. Neil Peart's drumming is technically accomplished, but man, sometimes I wonder if he can play with feeling.
Geddy Lee's Robert-Plant-on-helium vocals are an acquired taste.
That's as far down the Rush road I'm willing to go. I did sample their covers album and after listening to it, I realized why they've never covered anyone before... not that good.

I HATE Rush!!! I hate the singers voice.I don't like Genesis. Led Zeppelin is o.k. but Pink Floyd kicks a.ss!

Rush has become known for the instrumental virtuosity of its members, complex compositions, and eclectic lyrical motifs drawing heavily on science fiction, fantasy, and individualist libertarian philosophy, as well as addressing humanitarian and environmental concerns.

Personelly I don't like Rush. I don't like the voice of the singer to me its irritating and the songs get stuck in my head very easy. I don't like Rush but I wouldn't bash them ever.

I love Rush because its THREE guys making all those different sounds and they are just so awesome

I don't hate Rush...but Ozzy Osbourne is far superior.

I like some of their songs, they have a very distinctive sound
