I was dancing since i was six years old, i did 6 years of ballet, but i quit, i switched to jazz dance and modern dance. I did not like ballet, but i realized that ballet is the technic key to every dance.

It's never too late to follow your dreams. It will probably take a little more work for you now, but if you are really into it, you'll make it!!!

As a dancer myself, I am also pursuing a professional dancing career, but I'm only 17. One of the things most sought after in the ballet world is perfect technique, as I'm sure you know. However its going to greatly hinder you that you have problems with your en dehors. Another horrible thing is that it is a problem that is very hard to correct and in the long run things like that can cause knee problems. I'm not saying its hopeless, it would just take a lot of hard work and your age doesnt exactly help. Sorry to be so harsh, best of luck to you!

You're too old for ballet. They start screwing up their bones and muscles at an early age (it is "screwing up"--people are not made to move like that). By the time you finish puberty, your bones and muscles are stuck that way. You could, however, learn tap or jazz. Martha Graham, modern dance founder, started at the age of 17. It's really only ballet you're out of luck with.
Of course, it's also risky to be professional at the age of 21 because most dance companies look for younger aspiring dancers or well-established older ones.
Finally, boys answering this question. Grow up. Seriously.

By now to become professional you need to start younger, but 21 is still a good age if you are still in college take dance classes and go from there

ballet dancers are trained from a very young age so they can start to be a professional dancer around the age of 17. it also depends on how bad you want it and how much work you are willing to put in to become a professional dancer! but your chances are very slim : (

you will possibly somewhat could desire to hunker-down in case you're staring at ballet form dancing. it somewhat is obtainable, yet you're way at the back of the curve. Ballroom, Latin, or different couple's dancing you would be waiting to %. up swifter with selection. many of the experts have been doing those types provided that they could walk, others could have began in HS or presently thereafter however and dedicated very strongly to it. many of the contestents on exhibits like "so which you think of you may Dance" and so on have basically been dancing a pair of years, others "provided that they have been 2."

You're not from here, are you (spelling)?
Just keep practicing, it's the best and believe me it works. Get a trainer, it's worth it...do whatever you can that will help you.
