I had a Spectrum, and amongst my favourite were;
Popeye
Pyjamarama
Green Beret
Yie Ar Kung Fu
Beach Head
Magicland Dizzy
Treasure Island Dizzy
Robocop
Wheelie
Daley Thompson's Decathlon
I don't know whether it was because I was only new to games when I had that, but I hardly ever finished Spectrum games! I can always finish modern games, but I think those games had a proper challenge in them to make up for the lack of graphics etc.
Check this link out for instantly playable Spectrum games, including Skool Daze!

How can anyone not mention Skool Daze & Bak 2 Skool?
Jetpac, Manic Miner, Lords Of Midnight were all favourites of mine. The Hobbit was ok, but I hated Lord & Bored of the Rings.
Oh and Paperboy was good in it's time.
As was Bomb Jack & Chuckie Egg.
And who could forget the Dizzy & Magic Knight (Finders Keepers, Spellbound, Stormbringer) series'.
Halcyon days indeed... *wallows in nostalgia*
I still play them occasionally thanks to downloading a Spectrum Emulator for the PC too!

Didn't have a C64, but on the Spectrum it was Skool Daze and Journeys End. I remember how slow the games were to load too and as they were on cassette tape could crash easily too! LOL All that waiting for nothing.
If you want to go even further back I used to have an Atari too, which used cartridges. Fave games for that were Space Invaders, Frogger, Pack Man and River Raid. I think the Atari was better because of the game format being on cartridge, loaded straight away and didn't crash! :)

My mate had this karate game on the Amiga. If you typed in certain things while the game was playing you could get some interesting side effects, like typing in the word "w'ank" would cause a message to appear saying "sweaty hands slip off joystick". You could also make the combatants' trousers fall down mid-fight and get told off for using the word "f'uck". I can't remember what it was called.

Hi there,
Here I got Bobble Puzzle for free: http://bit.ly/1BDADps
it's a perfectly working link, no scam !
The two main advantages of Bobble Puzzle are its size since it does not take up too much disk space, and also, its gameplay.
It's a really nice game.

You can't beat Flimbo's Quest on the Comedore 64, it was the first addictive platform game!

Spectrum: Cobra, Ghosts n Goblins, Sir Fred, Spy Hunter, StarQuake, Jetpac, Knight Lore, Trans Am, Sabre Wulf, Rodland, Rainbow Islands and the ones I had published by a couple of companies :) No they weren't classics but I did get paid.
C64: Nemesis (didn't have one so didn't play many games)
Off to start a question on which was the better machine, hoping for some good arguments :)
