My husband is coming home from Iraq this weekend and I am looking for a hotel to reserve in Dallas. Problem is there are sooooo many to choose from. Can you suggest a really nice one? Preferably 4 star? And relatively close to the airport, DFW? I have never been to Dallas so I need to make sure I stick to one area! Thanks!

Depends on a few factors. If you're going to leave your room and if you have a car.

If you've got a car, there's a bunch of hotels you can get to that are nice. The Adolphus in downtown Dallas is very nice. The new W hotel is as well.

Out at the airport, the new Grand Hyatt's pretty comfy.

It all depends on what you're thinking of doing "outside" the hotel. ;-)

Downtown Ft. Worth is the Worthington Hotel, and if you stay there, you'll love downtown Ft. Worth. Very friendly, great atmosphere.

Hope y'all have a great time!

We stayed at the DFW Grand Hyatt for the second time on August 31, as we were flying out of terminal D the following morning. We'd stayed at the Grand Hyatt the night before a flight last year as well (scan back to October for that review), and would do it again.

We signed up with the "Park and Fly" package, which provided parking in the terminal D lot for a week...we wound up paying an extra $32 ($16 x two days) when we left, but knew that ahead of time. We still wound up saving a heck of a lot of money with this plan!

Usually we park at The Parking Spot and shuttle in, but are so glad we stayed in an airport lot. Our spot was about 90 seconds from the terminal, which was fabulous when our overnight flight made it into DFW from Hawaii (two hours late, no less) and we had a painless walk from baggage claim to our car.

Just like last time, the room was spotless. I don't think there's a bad room in the hotel as the views are all pretty much the same...unless you're stuck next to the stairs or the elevator. We had drinks downstairs and our bartender, Jason, even gave us a sample of the pineapple vodka "preserving" along the back of the bar.

The Grand Hyatt now has an "online concierge" which will help with special room requests, dinner reservations, etc. We didn't need anything particularly taxing, but I did "sign up" for extra towels, since we never seem to get enough at any hotel! Imagine my surprise when...the request was actually honored! It was a nice touch...and showed me the Grand Hyatt even takes the little things seriously.

The drinks were great, conversation was good, and the room was once again, comfortable and luxurious. We love the bed there...but you can't go wrong with plush linens and a new bed, either! The bathroom is huge (although the tub is small), and I'm a big fan of the huge shower.

Check-in was quick and friendly, but we did have a snafu on check-out where they charged us $70 more than our reserved rate. The charge was quickly updated however, and didn't cause us to lose any time.

Our only regret is we never stay there long enough to partake in the beautiful fitness facility upstairs but then again, we're local so there's really no reason to stay more than one night.

We do highly recommend this hotel...and I'm glad there's finally someplace else to stay on site other than the old, outdated "other" Hyatt.

There is a Four Seasons & Omni hotel by the DFW airport. Those are four star hotels. If you really want to spend some $$ try the Texan Gaylord. It is BEAUTIFUL there but pricey. However, totally worth the money if you and you're hubby are spending quality time together. I suggest you do your search around Coppell, Grapevine or Las Colinas area. It's much nicer around that area and in Grapevine there a lot of shopping/restaurant locations. Hope this helps and hope you have fun!
