I dont understand how people just talk so openly about this stuff right when it happens with customers for example and it makes me feel VERY uncomfortable for them to tell me such things.

What do you think about it?

i dont think i would just walk in a shop and tell a complete stranger no, unless we struck up a conversation and it was somehow relevant! however when my dad was dianosed with lung cancer just a few weeks ago i did enter it on my 360 blog, it helped me and i mainly did it cos i wanted or needed to hear other peoples positive stories! i hope i havent made you feel uncomfortable, but i can understand if told summat like that face to face from a stranger i would too perhaps feel a slight discomfort mainly cos its so hard to know what to say for the best.

I'd only tell things like that to the random morons who say things like 'cheer up it might never happen'. Other than that, I'd probably keep it within a small circle of very close friends who I rely on for support in difficult times. The rest of the world doesn't need my angst.

Yes it can be very uncomfortable, but sometimes they may not want to tell anyone they know, you're just there and they need to get it off their chest so speaking about their problems to the nearest person close by may be the only solution

i work as a customer service advisor in a call centre and i get that allll the time. i guess its easier when you're on the telephone, but it does make me feel a little uncomfortable. i wouldn't want to tell people those kinda things myself but i guess some people are just like that, they like to talk about things. i suppose it means you're approachable, which is a good thing!

sometimes people are lonely and evidently they must sense a caring person to tell you these things. I know it can make you feel uncomfortable because you never know what to say, Sometimes it just helps to listen.
