I was thinking the other day that such a book would be useful for someone like me who hasn't had anyone to teach them basic things about leading a "grown-up" life like ,for example, everything you need to know about banks, credit cards, buying a home, a car, paying loans, getting insurance, taxes and the government, buying things, making reservations,etc.

Modern life is so complex, I doubt you can find a book titled, "Life for Dummies." However, Wikipedia has a whole slew of articles you might want to look at. Good Luck.

The "For Dummies" or "Idiot's Guide" series cover just about all of those topics. They're available at the library or bookstore. I found one of them very useful when I was planning my wedding, it was "The Idiot's Guide To Wedding Planning" or something like that. Since it was my first marriage, it's not like I had any experience or anything! And I was too cheap to hire a wedding planner since we weren't having that large of a wedding anyway.

There's an Idiots Guide to Living and Survival. But I did find one on surviving zombies at Borders.
