I agree. Homework allows students to think critically about things they learned in class or from a book. It also allows students to open their creativity channels and think about how they feel about certain topics and issues. It helps a student master a particular subject, but it also helps students develop better writing skills, develop brain cells from using their minds, and give them practice in arguing for/against certain issues.

It doesn't do much harm; it takes a few hours a day max, and if you work out a schedule, you can still catch your favorite TV shows, chat on the phone, play sports, and spend time with your friends while still getting your homework done.

Homework is a good thing.

I do not, however, endorse the idea that homework should be turned in. I believe homework should be done by the student, and only test grades should be counted. When you are in the real world, people don't ask to see your homework, they just want you to do the job. Nobody is going to ask a lawyer if he reviewed the case before the trial--he is just expected to have. Nobody is going to ask a doctor if he knows what is wrong with the patient before surgery, he is just expected to. I believe this is how it should be for students as well.

Some homework is good because it helps students practice. Too much homework is harmful because it interferes with social and family time.

I BELIEVE THAT THE AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK IS DAMAGING IN THAT IT PREVENTS KIDS FROM BEING KIDS. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT WE AS A COUNTRY ARE SO H*LL BENT ON TURNING KIDS INTO LITTLE GENIUS'S THAT IT WON'T BE LONG UNTIL THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDING KINDERGARTEN WILL BE KNOWLEDGE AND USE OF ALGEBRA.
