i'm 38w 2d pregnant. i have come down with the flu, i believe. i've been coughing so bad, my chest is very congested. my stomach muscles are hurting from coughing so much. my body aches all over the place. i'm just a mess. and worse of all, i have to change my pants like 5 times a day because whenever i start coughing bad (even when i went to the bathroom a half hour earlier) i pee my pants.

what can i take to feel better?
& does this mean my baby is sick also?

Congrats on your baby! the little bundle should be here real soon! :)

Im sorry you are not feeling well. Do you have a 24 hour number for a nurse line (or even call labor and delivery to talk to a nurse or doctor on call at your hospital)

Most of us can take tylenol cold and sinus. I just took some (per the ok of my OB) for my cold that i am getting over.

of course try to drown down as many liquids as you can. if you have a fever, the best thing you can do is to take tylenol because you do not want to over heat your bupper (tho you having a fever will not affect him/her like it would during your first trimester)

My OB also told me if i was having problems sleeping, i could take a benadryl and that would be safe to help me get some sleep at night.

as for the coughing - i have a home remedy that works great.. it wont stop the coughing but it will break up all the mucus and make it come up easy... it is cut up red onion covered in sugar. you would take the onion, put it in a pot, cover it with sugar and a little water to make a syrup. then take a table spoon or 2 of the syrup every few hours. i have been using this since i was a baby... WORKS LIKE A CHARM

in the mean time i would say to use a pad (you will need these when you go to the hospital anyway. trust me, you dont want to use the hospital brand after you deliver!) This should help you with the changing of pants and undies while you are recovering.

im sorry you feel bad but it will clear up soon. just get plenty of rest and make sure you are able to take tylenol.

feel better soon!
