The best is a portable hard drive, because 5,000 songs is about 20 GB. Or you could use an iPod (30 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB).

We definitely need more information about the cord than "yellow", and probably the computers, too. If the computer that has the songs has a disc burner, it might not be a bad idea to burn all the files to disc (as mp3 discs, not regular audio discs), so you have a backup of the music as well.

If the computer are Macs, you can turn the one that has the files on in "Target Disc" mode (hold down the T key as it's starting up) and then mount it as an external drive on the other computer. This will not work with Windows machines.

Those 5000 songs are in one folder, determine the size of the entire folder, burn in to a CD and then copy from one PC to another- you will save yourself alot of headaches. If however you do not have a CD-RW burner, then I would recommend linking to 2 PCs via a hub using network cable, then create a shared folder on PC(A) from PC(B) test whether you can see the contents- copy from there. You can also use a USB drive of sufficient size to transfer the files.

Good luck!

Note I got this answer from someone else. but it explains everything perfectly.

"You'll need a network card fitted into each computer if you only want a simple network go down to you local computer store and ask for a crossover cable connect the two by plugging into the network cards then open the control paned on you main computer and run the network wizard follow the on screen instructions when done you'll have to share folders to do this right click on the folders you want to share click properties then the sharing tab tick the box marked share this folder on a network that's basically it "
