I wonder why the teacher has a really bad temper. is it perhaps that the class doesn't pay attention and doesn't do the work assignments properly? Doesn't stay on topic? Why is that?Is the teacher trying to find other ways to help you understand the subject matter? Gives tests three times a week. What's wrong with that? It's a good way to find out if anyone is paying attention and doing their assignments. Gives homework on a topic the class never reviewed. Come on now, do you have to be spoonfed everything? Are you incapable of reading a chapter in a text and learning from it?
Really bad temper? I guess i'd be really ticked too, if I had a roomful of kids who were expecting to have knowledge poured into their heads by some magical process, but weren't willing to work at it themselves.
Sounds like you need to grow up.
If all else fails, just hang in there. It's almost Easter and the school year will be over soon.

First, I am a teacher, I teach high school History and have been in education for MANY years....so maybe I can help. What grade level are we talking about? Do you know ANYTHING about the teacher's work relationship with his/her peers or principal or the teacher's home life? How is the class behavior as a whole that you are in? Have you tried talking to him/her outside of class? Have you considered doing a little "extra" either on your work or in the classroom to see if he/she might cut you some slack? How long has he/she been teaching? What subject? How old is he/she?

The reason I am asking all of these questions is because, society usually makes teachers out to be "more than human" almost like a superhero and we are not allowed to have "human" characteristics. We are very human and sometimes the things in our lives get in the way of our teaching. Let me say this....it shouldn't do that on a regular basis though. If he/she does this on a consistant basis, several things could be going on.
1.) He/she could be in career burn out....having a lot of work left at the end of the workday with no satisfaction around. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Law that President Bush enacted is not funded and states that ALL children, regardless of age or mental ability, will be passing or on the same level as all other children or it is the TEACHER's fault. This puts a LOT of stress in our jobs.
2.) If the teacher is new at the career, the NCLB or local objectives could be throwing him/her on what to teach and when. Maybe they need some help from a tenured teacher. If the teacher is a career teacher, maybe he/she is being forced to change the things they have done in the classroom for years and doesn't know quite where to go with it or maybe it is even time for them to retire.
3.) They could have a bad relationship with their peers or the principal. The principal might even have made a comment or evaluation that has put them into a tailspin.
4.) They could have a bad home life or a possible tragedy in their own life or within their family that is preoccupying their thoughts.
5.) Maybe it is the classroom behavior in your class?!?

I am no expert, by any means....just a few thoughts I thought I would post to try to help and to maybe help you see another perspective. If you would like to continue posting or email me further....please feel free to do so! Good luck!

I have had a teacher very similiar to this plus he would call us stupid. As far as the temper goes I don't really know what to tell you but I do suggest not saying anything to him/her about it because that would make the temper worse but if its that bad maybe you should tell your principal or the school board if it gets really bad and get your other classmates to complain as well maybe if the principal gets enough complaints something can be said to your teacher. The tests 3 times a week is riduculous and that is maybe something you could approach your teacher about and I would say something to them about the homework that you get that hasnt been reviewed, just ask him/her to explain the topic to you and if they wont then you could say something about it not being fair to do the assingment if you dont know what you are looking for because if you and your classmates are always getting stuff that you havent reviewed then that wont help you with the class.

Good Luck!

I wonder if you all, are not giving him cause to have this foul temper? Has he always been like this? Probably it is his nature or he might be having problems at home. Are you showing interest in his work. Three times a week for tests is not bad.

Just do your work, study hard to pass that class so you don't have to repeat it and realize that this teacher isn't the first deemed unreasonable by students.

It might help to try and understand what is making this teacher so tetchy...maybe it's students that complain all the time, don't listen in class and don't do their work.

Just be a good student. Do your work and be prepared. My daughter came home and said she had to memorize words and meanings from the glossary. I didn't approve, but she said, "If he gives me the dictionary to memorize, I'll do it." That's a good attitude to have. So, get with it. Who told you that life is going to be easy.

Talk to your favourite teacher about the problem, you might get some sympathy and an answer.
