If you're finding the slope of the equation y = -8x - 7, then the y-intercept cannot possibly be -6. The y-intercept would be -7. However, the slope is -8 (negative 8) either way. In order to find the slope, put the equation in Slope-Intercept Form (or y=mx+b form) as you have already done, then look at the number before the x.

first of all, -7 is the y-intercept. The number at the end is always the y-intercept. The slope is already there also, -8. The number before the y-intercept with the variable next to it is always the slope :)):

The slope is -8. The slope is always the number in front of the X. The y-intercept is -7. It's always the second number. Good Luck with Homework! :)

because this equation is in the form of y=mx+b, the slope is always m and the y-intercept is the y (in the equation). So, in this case, the slope is -8 and the y-intercept is -7.
