Depends on where you live. For starter the mid ocean ridges are a source of heat and all kinds of strange and wonderful life forms live in the depths of the Atlantic ocean along the ridges.

As for life above the sea, in Japan the mid ocean spreading center where material is generated and moves outward and away from the center is on the other side of the Pacific ocean, but the subduction zone is right near by and is responsible for the volcanoes which built the island chain and the major earthquakes Japan feels almost daily.

The ridge zone intersects land in east Africa and not only generates earthquakes, but also impacts the shape of the landscape.

So those unseen geologic features do impact life on the planet, not just the overall shape of it

There is a lot of unknown life in the mid-ocean ridges that are only found at extreme depths. We have very little knowledge of the creatures that lurk at the bottom of the ocean. But last time I check the mid ocean ridges have no affect on my daily life as a student in Tempe, AZ.

Some creatures live in oceanic depths and derive all their energy from the heat generated by mid-oceanic ridges (along with black smokers and white smokers). I would presume that this is how all life existed before the protective ozone layer allowed life to exist in the upper levels of the ocean and on the land.
