You must live in the city. Typically, the Executive Assistant or Assistant is the reader, as "being a reader" is the starting ground for an up and coming producer. One must also be an excellent writer. Move to L.A. or New York City and work your way up. There is a long line for those jobs, it could take years.

You can also try to get a temp job in the industry.
