Hello there I live in Southern California, okay you might be in the areas of Magic Mountain area or around that area. You can grow almost any kind of plants. But when you go look around the Nursery's to see what you like and ask them what would be good plant of where you live. Also you can look up a book called, Sunset Western Garden Book at the nursery or at your local Home Depot or Lowe's. I been doing Landscaping for 25 years. I done planted different types of plants I have not have a plant die on yet. But if you look in this book that I' am talking about look on the inside of the book you will see a map of all the zones for California and that will tell you of what zone you are in. I hope this helps you. Good Luck.

If you're looking at a reputable catalog, there should be a map of the USA with a breakdow of what zone you are in included in the catalog.
Look near the ordering page.
I'm in New York, zone 4. My guess is you'd be in zone 6 to 8. Maybe higher into zone 10.

Depending on exactly where you live in California, you could be in zone 8 to 11.
