Dropping a class is when you no longer enroll in a class which took before. You could drop a class for numerous reasons: 1) Your grades are falling/failing 2) You have too much work 3) You are getting lazy 4) You are better off getting a better grade in a lower level class

When you get permission to stop going and take it off your schedule. Usually when you are doing poorly in the class. You'll probably have to take the class again later if it's a credit you need.

To take it off your schedule for the semester or year. You dis-enroll yourself and don't get a grade in the class and don't go to it anymore.

It means that you basically dis-enroll yourself in that class. You are no longer signed up for it.
