I need a new washer. This is the first major appliance my husband and I have had to buy on our own. We want something thats going to last but isnt going to cost a few thousand. Can anyone recommend a brade and style?

Kenmore front load... we have had kenmores all our married lives and we really have had no problems and they last for a LONG time!

Front loads work great...are gentle on clothes.. takes less detergent (special HE detergent ... or we use bout 1/3 of the normal amount and it works great) and uses way less water... 15 gal/load vs 45 gallons on traditional top load washers which means lower hot water costs too. I absolutely love it!

Go for the stainless steel interior... and good luck!

Kenmore, HE - 2. It's a front loader, but it works great! Lots of room, and will work forever. It also saves space. It shouldn't cost more than about $700-$800. Check at Sears. They sell those puppies at a real good price!

Good Luck!!!!

the _front loaders_ are more efficient in terms of water as you only need to fill it half way to soak the cloth while the top loader need to be filled more to immerse the clothes.

Check out consumer reports for tests. it should be at your local library. or look at http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/appliances/washing-machines/reports/index.htm

You don't just want one that is efficient, you want to clean well too.
