It's amazing to see and hear that they are going to kill off another comic book icon. First it was Superman back in the 90s with Doomsday, and now it's Captain America with an assassin's bullet.
You know, it would be a lot *easier* if they just killed them off and let them stay dead. This way, we can go on with new comic book storylines and not have to rehash things over and over.
A friend of mine was right: The comics are getting almost "Disney"-like with the way things are going. There's no fresh blood, there's no originality. It's just endless monotony.
I'm so glad I don't have that problem with my STARCHILD storylines. No superheroes with secret identities, no magic formula from which to pull the hero's bacon out of the fire.
It's all done on REALITY. And when the character dies, he or she stays DEAD. There is no resurrection, no anything which will impede the progression of the story.

Like in STARCHILD DUEL for instance. In the alternate reality which I've created, there's a lot more dark things going on for the Starchild's counterpart. She's losing the battle against Nemesis because her power levels never INCREASED like they have for Isis herself. So she's been fighting a war handicapped all this time, but she doesn't seem to mind. It's her destiny (and fate) to battle it out until the bitter end.
And when the end comes for her and her boyfriend, she's *dead*. And unlike Superman and possibly Captain America (who may come back), this version of Isis McGowan doesn't come back.
Thus, allowing the storyline to continue. And while her counterpart's death affects Isis pretty heavily, she now realizes the *mortality* of her own existence, and what really goes on with being the Starchild of Ancient Lore.
No matter how powerful you are, there's someone or some thing out there who is more than willing to permanently punch your clock.

This is what COMICS should be based on! Hard reality. Not fantasy! If the movers and the shakers could base a new line of comics based on this ideal--I can GUARANTEE you that there would be a whole new generation of avid comic book fans who would appreciate the change in the status quo.
I know I would.
