After Prometheus stole fire from olympus and gave it to man so that they would have a superior edge over the creation of his brother Epimetheus (beast) zues chained him to a rock in the middle of the styx. There every day an eagle (often confused as a vulture) would every day eat out his liver. This hints at the fact that maybe the greeks new that the liver was the only organ that could grow back in the human body. Also in some stories an apple tree grew above him forever keeping a delicious ripe apple out of his reach taunting him. There are two versions of his rescue one of the states it was one of the labors of Heracles (only Hercules in roman mythology) the other states Zeus grew sorry for him and released him.

i believe prometheus was tied to a large boulder for eternity with indestructable chains and his everyday his liver and other organs were ripped out of his gut and eaten. each night they regrew and the next day the process started all over again.

Zeus had him chained to a rock in the Caucasus, where he was constantly preyed upon by an eagle.The eagle ate his liver everyday, and during the night it would regenerate, then the eagle would consume it again. Finally he was freed by the hero Hercules, who slew the eagle.

By making him stuck to a cliff face one way or the other and having a bird come every day to eat his liver. The liver regrew each night.

because he gave people fire he was chained to a mountain and a large vulture ate his liver every day.but the poor guy couldnt die because he was immortal so the liver grew back and he had to suffer the pain every day
