George Washington was a Army leader with a great head for how to run the army. He did not want to be President, and did not do much or anything while he was in office. One thing that made him better than most was his age, he was much older than the average man of the day.

George Washington had many supporters when America gained its independence from Britain. he was made president, when many Americans at the time wanted to grant him the title of king. but the most important reason he was a great man is because he relinquished power after his term as president was expired. he was powerful enough that he could have maintained as leader.

George Washington was an effective leader because he had complete, unwavering support from his people. This allowed him to do all he needed to do without things like scandals or elections. (Look it up - at the time, most states ignored the votes of the people and allowed the electoral college to do what they wanted!)
