Go to a no kill shelter and pick one out that blends with your personality. Personally, I love siamese mixes and black cats, but that's just me. And be sure to make the committment to keep your cat indoors, provide ALL necessary vet care, and to give her lots of love when you can be home. Good luck in your search! : )

A Maine Coon cat is a large cat that is very friendly and active. The are "people" cats. They like to follow their people around from room to room and like to be where the activity is. They aren't necessarily "lap" cats, but they will sit next to you and be your "buddy". I have a cat who is mixed with Maine Coon. He is wonderful. He is really laid back, yet plays with everybody and everything - still at 5 years old! He cries if he finds he is downstairs and everyone went upstairs or vis versa. He is also very smart - able to do some tricks - and we seriously thought about teaching him to potty in the toilet, just never got around to it. I'm giving you a link to a Maine Coon cat site and also Petfinders, where you could look for a shelter near you that would have either Maine Coons or other cats you might like.

If you want the size of a dog, go with a Maine Coon. If you want the loyalty of a dog, go with a Russian Blue. Also, a lot of shelters do a kind of personality quiz to see if you're compatable with the cat. Good luck!

You want a Maine cat. They are large cats and are very sociable. Alot of them also love being patted like a dog rather than stroked. They can also be lap cats if trained properly.

There is a breed called a bombay cat, they look like panthers, and can be trained to walk on a lead and love to play fetch. I doubt you will find any in shelters though, so they may cost quite a bit to get them from a breeder.

Irish barn cat or ragdoll cat. They get to be 25 pounders and are absolutely weighted down with a beautiful coat. They will cost you $500 to $2500.
Shelter cats need you more than these guys so, get two, they will never be alone and you will have more action than you can stand.

bangel cats are the ones with the most dog like personality. I've researched on the internet before and all said the same about this breed. They are very cute also.
